Securities master data

Using the master data dialog for securities (security properties), you can enter or edit all the master data for the security and all its price quotations and confirm by clicking the "Save" button.

The master data contains all essential information on the securities. To enter a security, the corresponding master data must be created. These consist at least of the name and the securities identification number through which the security is managed. All other fields are not mandatory, but can be useful for further evaluations.

The Infront Portfolio Manager recognizes a total of 12 different security types: Shares, bonds, subscription rights, foreign exchange, futures, funds, participation certificates, indices, economic data, options, warrants and certificates.

The master data is supplied and updated by the regular market data imports. However, you can also enter and edit them manually.

You create a new security, e.g. with the command NEW, SECURITIES in the context menu of a folder or via the "Create objects" icon on the "Data maintenance" tab. Please read the section Add securities to the database.

  1. To view or change the master data of an existing security, right-click on the security in the Explorer and select the PROPERTIES command in the context menu. The dialog box with the master data opens.
  2. Make the desired entries and changes by clicking in the corresponding fields and selecting an option or making the entry.

The master data contains numerous input fields on the "Characteristics" and "Extended" tabs, which differ depending on the security type.
On the "Risk" tab, select the desired EDG risk class for all tradable security types and indices in the selection list under "Market price risk". Please also read the sections Risk classes in the EDG certificate rating and Risk classes.
If you have subscribed to WM data, you will find the corresponding WM master data on the "WM" and "WM 2" tabs. If necessary, read the section WM data.
For bonds, all information on the rating (subject to licensing) of the rating agencies for the bonds is also available on a further tab "Credit rating".
For certificates and warrants, all information on the EDG rating of the securities is available on the tab "Risk and quality".

  3. Click the "Save" button to close the dialog box and save the entries you have made.
  • Each master data dialog window contains the "User-defined fields..." button, which you can use to enter or change the user-defined fields of the selected price quotations.
  • You can also use the EDIT SECURITIES command on the "Data maintenance" tab to search for securities and edit their master data directly.
  • Important if change tracking is activated: If you have not made any changes to the master data, i.e. you have only viewed it, you can exit the dialog box by clicking the "Cancel" button. In this case, no entry is made in the change log.
  • On the "Notes" tab in the securities master data, you have the option of entering detailed notes on the security. Enter your text in the input field and confirm your entry with "Save". You can use the MM-Talk Notes function to retrieve notes on a security stored in this way.
