The "Set up user-defined fields" dialog box
Use the "Set up user-defined fields" dialog box to manage your individual data fields. To open it, select the "Custom fields" icon on the "Configuration" tab.
The "Set up user-defined fields" dialog box contains the following elements:
Element | Description |

Fields | In this list on the left you can see all user-defined fields. To view and edit the properties of a user-defined field, select it in the list. Please refer to the following sections for details on creating, editing and deleting user-defined fields. |
Name | The name of the user-defined field currently selected in the list. |
Description | The description of the user-defined field currently selected in the list. To change this, simply click in the input field and enter the desired text. |
Field type | Here you can see the field type of the user-defined field currently selected in the list. Select the "Define field type..." button to edit it. For details, read the section Define field type. |
Field category | Divide your user-defined fields into field categories. If the user-defined field currently selected in the list is assigned to a field category, you will see this in the middle of the dialog box. Select the "Define field category..." button to assign a new field category to the user-defined field. For details, read the section Field categories. |
Field order change | Select the "Change field order..." button to change the order of the user-defined fields within the currently selected field category in the "Change field order" dialog box that appears. Read the section Changing the order of user-defined fields. |
Standard formula | Select the "Standard formula" button to open the formula editor. You can enter a formula here that is evaluated if a user-defined field for which no explicit value has been entered is accessed with an MM-Talk formula. You can find out more about accessing user-defined fields in the section Use user-defined fields. Detailed examples of standard formulas can be found in the MM-Talk reference in the chapter Application examples. |
Field available for | The three fields on the right-hand side list all object types in the categories "Securities account management", "Folder" and "Securities". Specify here for which object types the currently selected user-defined field should be available. Right-click in this area to open a context menu with commands that allow you to make a quick selection. The following commands are available:
