Enter transactions

In addition to depot data entry via the Explorer and the various options of the respective context menus of the Explorer objects, the Infront Portfolio Manager also allows centralized depot data entry. This eliminates the need to search in the sometimes complex folder structure of the Explorer. Asset management companies and banks in particular, which maintain data for many customers, benefit from this.

Security objects are always required for transactions. Use storage locations to differentiate stock. The valuation of securities positions is always based on one and the same valuation price quotation.

If you have licensed the "Cost service" module and have an Internet connection to the service, you can download the associated costs for all relevant transaction types directly from the cost service. If necessary, please also read the section Transactions and cost service.

There are several ways to open the input screen for entering transactions without having previously selected a securities account object:

  • Select the "Enter transactions" icon on the "Data maintenance" tab.
  • Press the key combination <CTRL>+<ALT>+<T>.
  • Select the "Enter transactions" icon on your quick access toolbar. In the chapter Quick access toolbar , you will learn how to configure the quick access toolbar and thus have quick access to exactly the functions you need time and again.

You can then enter or search for the holders or portfolios for which you want to enter transactions in the "Holder/portfolio" area at the top of the open "Enter transactions" worksheet.

If you want to search for a holder or portfolio first and then enter their transactions, proceed as follows:

  1. Open the workspace of a holder or portfolio by searching for it using the object search and selecting the desired holder or portfolio in the search result and confirming with "OK".
  2. In the workspace, switch to "Transactions" and then to "Entry".
    The "Enter transactions" worksheet opens.

Important information on this dialog box can be found in the following table:

Element

Description

Owner/portfolio

Enter the securities account object (holder or portfolio) for which you want to record transactions here. You can search for an owner or portfolio in the database using the "Search" icon to the right.

For portfolios, only those transactions are displayed in the transaction list that have either a securities account or an account under the selected portfolio.

To quickly select another holder visible in Explorer, select it and press the <SPACEBAR> or the middle mouse button. This also works for portfolios.

Transaction types

On the left-hand side of the window's toolbar you will see menus with all available transaction types, divided into deposit and account transactions.

You open the list of transaction types by clicking on the desired menu. The transaction type is then selected by clicking the mouse, arrow keys and <RETURN>.

More on the categorization of types in the chapter Categories of transaction types.

The dialog boxes for entering transactions appear.

Number of transactions

In the upper area between the toolbar with the icons and the transaction list, you will find information on the number of transactions, the number of canceled transactions and the number of transactions with plausibility messages for the currently selected holder or portfolio.

Transaction list

By default, the transaction list only shows the transactions of the currently selected custody account object that have not been canceled. You can also scroll through this list using the arrow keys on your keyboard. When a holder or portfolio changes, its transaction list appears.

In workspaces of securities accounts and accounts, the transactions are displayed on the "Transactions", "Entry" worksheet depending on the securities account structure in the Explorer: If the custody account or the account is directly under a holder, their transactions are displayed in full. If the custody account or the account is assigned to a portfolio, only the transactions of this portfolio are taken into account.

All further details on the "Enter transactions" worksheet can be found in the section Edit transaction list.

If you have configured plausibility checks for the correct entry of transactions, you must observe the corresponding notes and warnings on the dialog windows. The messages appear at the bottom of the dialog boxes (above the buttons). Click on the message texts to find out more details.
