Terminal services
The Microsoft Windows terminal services make it possible to use the Infront Portfolio Manager (Windows workstation) as a thin client solution. The Infront Portfolio Manager is installed on a central server (terminal server) and then offered for execution to several users on remote client computers via a network. In such an environment, users do not run the Infront Portfolio Manager locally on the clients, but on the central server; only the application interface is displayed on the client. Such a solution is particularly suitable if Infront Portfolio Manager is to be used at workstations where only computers with limited hard disk space, main memory or processor power are available. This also makes sense if hardware and software are to be controlled and administered at one or a few central points, especially in larger network installations.
The special features of installing and operating the Infront Portfolio Manager under Terminal Services are described below. This only concerns the "Infront Portfolio Manager" workstation, as nothing changes for the "database" and "server" system parts.
