Instrument registration
Portfolio Risk Service" module
The calculation method requires that computationally intensive preliminary calculations are first carried out on the server before the actual risk assessment is possible. These preliminary calculations simulate numerous possible future developments in the value of the relevant instruments. To be able to carry out these calculations, the server must know for which instruments the risk functions are to be usable. When registering, the server must therefore be informed of all instruments contained in portfolios whose risk is to be assessed later. If the quantity of instruments of interest changes, the (changed) quantity of instruments must be registered again.
For instruments that are registered and calculable, precalculations are carried out automatically on a daily basis from the date of registration. The risk calculation can also be carried out retrospectively for those days on which the corresponding instruments were registered and the preliminary calculations took place.
The "Manage risk service" worksheet is available for registering and checking the registration status of instruments. This worksheet can be accessed via the "Configuration" tab. Select the RISK SERVICE command in the "Further configurations" icon menu. To be able to use this configuration, you need the "Manage risk service" system right.
The worksheet has two object lists on the left-hand side. The securities contained in the list below ("Individual securities") are registered in the risk service. Objects other than individual securities can be specified in the upper list ("Instruments contained in"). For example, owners, groups and filters can be specified here. During the registration process, the securities, accounts and special investments contained here are liquidated. This list can be used, for example, if it is known that the risk service is to be used regularly for certain holders or securities accounts. If the securities contained change, the changed instrument quantity will be registered during the next registration process.
The registration refers to the values valid on the current date. If values change, a new registration is required.
The functions in the toolbar of the "Manage risk service" worksheet:
Icon | Description |
---|---|
To save the current entries in the two lists (securities list and object list) locally so that they are preset accordingly the next time you call up the worksheets, select the "Save selection" icon. | |
The "Query status" function is used to query the current registration status of the instruments defined by the entries in the two lists on the left. | |
The "Register" function is used to register the instruments currently defined by the entries in the two lists on the left as a new "universe" with the risk service. It is precisely this set of instruments that is defined as the new "universe". This set must therefore contain all instruments for which the risk service functionality is to be available. | |
To configure the proxy via which the connection to the risk service is to run, select the "Proxy configuration" icon. Please also read the section Configure proxy for risk service. |
