The Portfolio Manager Server consists of several modules:

Server control

Central server

Backend server
The server control runs automatically on every computer on which the server component is installed. For central servers or backend servers, you can select one or more so-called server instances on which these modules are to run. A server instance is a computer on which a part of the Portfolio Manager Server or the entire Portfolio Manager Server runs.
The modules are explained in more detail in the following sections.
