Strings

In MM-Talk all strings must be set in quotation marks (Current['Close']), only when entering in parameter dialogs the quotation marks are omitted. The use of single quotation marks is recommended here, as these are interpreted directly as a string. Character strings are often used to enter parameters. You can also use strings to specify specific securities, e.g. to use a security as a comparison value in a formula. You can use the CLOSE-'Siemens'.WP.CLOSE>10 formula to calculate the absolute difference between a security and a comparative value, for example. The formula first reads the close time series of the input object. A security named 'Siemens' is then searched for (case-insensitive) and its close time series is loaded. The difference is then determined from the two close curves. If the difference is greater than 10, the input object is included in the results list.
