Server

An Infront Portfolio Manager (server or workstation) can consist of several components:

Component

Description

Application

The actual application for the 'normal' user.

Crystal Reports

This component should always be installed as standard, as it is necessary for using the reporting function in Infront Portfolio Manager. You can deactivate the component in a user-defined installation. However, this only makes sense in rare cases where a more recent version of Crystal Reports is already in use and should not be overwritten.

An installed Microsoft Visual Studio C++ 2015 or 2017 Redistributable (64-bit) is required for the "Crystal Reports" component.

In addition, the Adobe Reader integrated in the Infront Portfolio Manager and also require the installation of Microsoft Visual Studio C++ 2013 Redistributable (x86). However, this will be installed directly during the installation of the Infront Portfolio Manager if necessary.

Data updating/ -maintenance

With the help of <data update>, the system connects to the Market Data Pool (Infront data center) via a secure Internet connection and usually transfers the differences in securities master data and price data as well as other data in the form of files on a daily basis. A subsequent import writes this data to the database.

The component also enables updates and service packs to be downloaded from the Infront data center.

The <data maintenance> includes programs for maintenance, care and updating of the database.

Documentation

The user documentation in the form of PDF and help files.

Shared files

This component is automatically installed by selecting another component and imports files that are used by several components.

An optional connects the system with the custodian backend. As a rule, the securities account data from the backend is imported into the database on a daily basis using difference reconciliation.

Server

The Portfolio Manager Server can be used to perform server-specific tasks, such as the configuration of multiple backends of "Infront Portfolio Manager" instances, which, for example, run reports or defined jobs.

Infront Advisory Solution

This optional, browser-based application serves as a web workstation for portfolio analyses and market information as well as supporting the advisory process. The application is based on the Infront Portfolio Manager with Portfolio Manager Server as backend and is subject to licensing.

When this component is installed, an Apache web server is also installed. If an existing Apache web server is to be used, the installation must be customized in consultation with Infront Financial Technology GmbH.

Time control

Using time control, the actions of data updating, or batch export can be initiated at specific times.

The server corresponds to a complete Infront Portfolio Manager, where all components are usually installed. In particular, of course, the <server> component, but also the <data update/maintenance> component, as this is used to activate the system online, maintain and update the database and update the securities and price data on a daily basis.

In addition to the two components<Server>and <Data update/maintenance> mentioned above, <> and <Infront Advisory Solution> are usually only installed once in the system. Therefore, in practice, the same computer (server) is often used for the components<server>, <data update/maintenance>, <> and <Infront Advisory Solution>, although this does not necessarily have to be the case. Particularly when using the Infront Advisory Solution, it may make sense to install the corresponding components on several systems for reasons of scalability and reliability.

Special system requirements must be ensured for the server. Read the section System requirements.
