Colors in the correlation matrix
The colors displayed in the correlation matrix are configurable. To do this, select the COLOR command in the menu ribbon on the "Correlation matrix" tab in the "Edit" icon menu.
The "Color definition" dialog box that appears allows you to define a color palette consisting of seven colors. A color gradient can be created automatically (by activating the "Automatic color gradient" checkbox). In this case, only the first and last color need to be determined. If the "Definable middle color" checkbox is also activated, the middle color can also be defined. This is useful, for example, to specify the color to be displayed for a numerical value of 0. (In this case, set the minimum and maximum to "+- a specific value", e.g. "+1.00" and "-1.00".)
A separate color can be defined for the display of invalid values ("n/a").
There are two colors for the font used to display the numbers. The first color is used if the background of the cell is rather dark, while the second color is used if the background of the cell is rather light.
The following options are available for translating numerical values to colors:
- Minimum/maximum:
Minimum and maximum are the values that correspond to the leftmost and rightmost color on the color scale. If, for example, the value 0 is entered as the minimum, then cells containing the value 0 are highlighted with the color furthest to the left of the scale. If the "Automatic" checkbox is activated, the largest and smallest value in a matrix to be displayed is used. In this case, the entire available spectrum is used to represent a matrix (if it contains different values at all). Smooth transition between colors:
If this option is set, not only the colors defined by the user are used, but the colors are blended between adjacent colors.Beispiel:
If minimum and maximum are set to -1.00 and +1.00 (and are not determined automatically), then a value of 0.00 is displayed with the value of the color palette. If the "Smooth transition between colors" option is not activated, numerical values in the + 1/7 range are also displayed in the same color. In the other case, the color gradually changes to the neighboring color.
- Color shows absolute value:
In this case, the sign of the number is ignored in the color display. For example, the numbers -0.35 and +0.35 are then displayed in the same color.
