Transfer database from older parallel installation
You can use the database tool to check the system for installations of previous versions of Infront Portfolio Manager. The corresponding <shared directories> are then checked.
After selecting a <shared directory> as the source, the data from this installation is copied to the current installation as a database image. In general, this can be an older version database. In further steps, this image must then be installed and, if necessary, subjected to a database update.
Only databases from version 4.30 can be transferred directly via a database update.
If you want to transfer a database from an older version (from version 4.30) or a parallel installation, proceed as follows:
Exit the Infront Portfolio Manager if necessary.
Start the database tool via the <Database tool> command in the Windows start menu.
Select the command INSTALLATION, TRANSFER DATABASE FROM PARALLEL INSTALLATION... in the main menu.
The database transfer wizard appears.
After clicking on "Next", the wizard searches your system for further installations. The installations found are listed in the database transfer wizard:
Select the installation with the database to be transferred on the left. In the field on the right you will see detailed information on the selected installation. The bottom line in this field tells you whether the database needs to be updated or whether conversion is not possible.
You can add further "shared directories" to the list using the "Add shared directory" icon.
Confirm the selection with "Next". If the installation cannot be accepted (database file not found, course system too old, etc.), the "Next" button remains grayed out and cannot be clicked for this selection. The next page of the dialog box appears.
Select whether the currently existing database should be deleted or remain on the hard disk.
Confirm the selection with "Next". The data is copied.
Close the transfer with the "Exit" button.
In the next steps, this database image must then be installed and subjected to a database update .
