Database
The database consists of the following components:
- Relational database (Oracle or MS-SQL Server)
- Course system
- <Shared directory>
In the following, "database" always refers to the combination of relational database, course system and <shared directory>, while the MS-SQL Server database/Oracle database is described as "relational database" for better differentiation.
The relational database contains all data apart from prices, such as user, custody account and securities data. Oracle or MS-SQL Server in various versions can be used as the database server. Please read the section System requirements.
The price system is file-based and contains the historical price data for all available securities. The installation should take place on a file server.
The Infront Portfolio Manager is connected to the database via the <shared directory>, which is also installed on the file server and contains configuration files.
Read and write permissions for all workstations and users are required for the <Shared directory>. Please also read the section Directory structure and Windows Registry.
To use the Infront Portfolio Manager from version 5.50, the 64-bit version of the Oracle client must be used when using Oracle databases.
