Trend line monitoring
Trend lines and trend channels are characterized by the fact that the lines you draw are automatically updated every day. The Infront Portfolio Manager can monitor breakthroughs of trend lines and trend channels for you.
Trendline monitoring is a special signal folder that lists the securities for which trendline breakthroughs have been detected.
The first step is to create a trend line monitoring folder. You can then assign trend lines and trend channels to this folder - as described in the following section - and monitor them.
- For example, select the "Signals" folder in the Explorer with the right mouse button and select the command NEW, TRENDLINE MONITORING in the context menu.
Or select TRENDLINE MONITORING in the menu of the "Create objects" icon on the "Data maintenance" tab in the ribbon, then the trendline monitoring folder is always created under the "Trendline monitoring" signal folder in the Explorer.
A dialog box appears in which you can define the trendline monitoring and assign a name. - Enter the period in trading days up to which you want to search for breakthroughs.
The observation period should correspond to your data retrieval habits. If you retrieve the data daily, for example, you should only have the charts examined retrospectively for one or two days; if you retrieve the data irregularly, you should set a period of 25 days, i.e. around one trading month.
Activate the option "Message at end of evaluation" to be informed via a dialog box after the evaluation has been run. - After clicking on "OK", a "Trend line monitoring" object is created in the Explorer.
- You can now add trend lines and trend channels to this trend line monitoring - as described in the following chapter Adding trend lines to trend line monitoring .
