Create user-defined fields
To create a user-defined data field, select the "User-defined fields" icon on the "Configuration" tab. The "Set up user-defined fields" dialog box opens.
The currently existing fields are shown in the "Fields" list on the left-hand side.
- To create a new field, select the "Add field" icon above the "Fields" list.
- Enter a meaningful name for the new user-defined field in the "Name" input field and, if necessary, a comment on the field in the "Description" input field.
- The three fields on the right-hand side list all object types in the categories "Securities", "Securities account management" and "Folder". Specify here for which object types the new user-defined field should be available.
- Select the "Define field type..." button to define the field type. The "Define field type" dialog box opens. Specify the type of the new field here. Detailed information on the settings in this window can be found in the section Define field type.
- Select the "Standard formula..." button to open the formula editor. You can enter a formula here that is evaluated if a user-defined field without an explicit value is accessed with an MM-Talk formula. You can find out more about accessing user-defined fields in the section Use user-defined fields. Detailed examples of standard formulas can be found in the MM-Talk reference in the chapter Application examples.
It is advisable to store standard formulas. You can and should also define a standard assignment ("True" or "False") here for user-defined fields of type "Yes/No" ("Boolean"). - Save your settings and close the "Set up user-defined fields" dialog box.
